Who cares for the caregivers?

I have a few comments and thoughts about this article.

1) The article stated that siblings of handicapped patients have trouble getting married because of their siblings.

How is this relevant? I feel that if someone really loves somebody, he/she is willing to share the hardship of taking care of a handicapped person, which i know first-hand is quite easy if you are willing to.

2) Why did the nursing homes turn down the request to take care of a handicapped person?

This is ironic, they are nursing homes and they are not willing to nurse someone that is in need of nursing? Then i believe there is no point in having nursing homes. What is this about applying for a nurse? A nursing home should have a basis of helping the needy not choosing who to help.

3) I disagree with the writer point of view that we cannot claim to be a civilised society if the needy among us are not taken care of, and their parents cannot die with peace of mind. I feel that we will not be a good and feeling society because we do not help the needy andare not willing to

Character traits

In All Summers in a Day, the Venus children were very cruel towards Margot, marginalising her and shoving her in a locker. When the sun finally came out after seven years, not one thought of her missing it, instead the selfish children played and played till in rained again. These children had jealousy and cruelty burning bright in their hearts. They lacked compassion, integrity (when they told their teacher all was present), respect and trust (they didnt believe Margot when she said the Sun was coming). Margot added fuel to the fire by being irritating and boasted about the Sun to the other children. I suggest she should not boast about the Sun and maybe not be so anti-social. She should play with her peers more because when her peers made an effort to invite her to play, being anti-scial makes her look arrogant. We must attain the values of compassion, respect, the ability to adapt and have a positive outlook on life.

The journey

The scenery in the frame is a painting by the hands of God himself, the mesmerisingly coloured sky and mountains in the background compliments the green plains in the foreground with cows dotting the landscape, indeed an unfrgettable sight. "Village Mereka station!" The scenery transitted out and into smiling children. Apparently they knew at what time the train passed their homes and made it their business to stand at the tracks and wave to complete strangers; and cheer them up as they rushed on. Often whole families stood outside their homes, waving and smiling as if we were relatives. This was Malaysia.

Chinese Mothers Superior

I believe that this article shows a perfect representation of a parent who does not look in her childrens' perspective. This article is so unbelievable that I question the integrity of this article. Never gone on a sleepover? Never watched TV? I can assure you that I have never seen anyone who did not watch TV or play computer games before. What do i mean by not looking in her childrens' perspective? I will not want my mom to be like an Army General. Children need some time off and some time for fun. I believe because they could not go for sleepovers, do not play games, her children will have problem socialising. There is a thing called 'snapping under stress'. She claims her shouting motivated her daughter to accomplish her piano piece. Oh yes, Army generals can motivated soldiers to die in battle. Overstress causes many hidden mental illnesses. I feel that although parents want their children to succeed, it is worth to sacrifice their children's happiness? Parents must understand their children, spend time with them, gradually the children will draw closer to the parents and they will be willing to share their shortcoming and troubles which the parents can solve WITHOUT shouting.

China's Stealth Bomber

http://http://www.toondoo.com/privateView.toon?param=wV3vkIgECMPRNutmdkM9mZQPKXzfi/PvjAjE/vxkGHgHTm7Q4eul1Q%3D%3D

I chose the background of a scene at night because Stealth Bombers do their surveillance and attacks at night. In the comic, they are depicted as shooting stars as photos of stealth bombers shows them as white streaks, resembling shooting stars. Night is a time full of wonders and horrors as I feel what could be lurking in those black skies, especially undetectable ones like the stealth bombers. So it gives a sense of impeding doom and mystery.

Mum, Singaporeans are very kind

I totally understand and sympathise with this child as someone close to me has slight autism. That person is 10 this year but still enjoys doing what little kids do. He does not have much artistic or mathematical talent but he has a lot of passion for fountains and powerpoints. After the first day i told him a bit on how to use Powerpoint, he has been practising and gradually getting better. Now he makes brilliant slides full of fountains. Back to the main point. I am very happy to see that there are still people in this world that still cares for the needy. I have seen this close person of mine shunned by his own relatives and ignored by most people. Actually, understanding a personis a very easy step, even a difficult child like an autistic child, it is just whether you will want to take that step

Ignorance a bliss?

Is it better to have never known something or to have known something but to ultimately lose it later?

I personally feel that it depends on the circumstance of the situation and the victim of the situation as well as severity of the situation. To me, I believe that the fact that you know something noone else in the world knows, could make a difference. You will become different because you have the knowledge that noone else. To quote Charles Caleb Colton, "We owe much of our knowledge not to those who have agreed, but those who differed". I sincerely belief that the person with this knowledge will use it for the benefit of the people. However, that is the more positive side. The fact is that not everyone can bear the knowledge. "Knowledge is power". To quote Spider-man uncle,"With great power comes great responsibility". Moreover, the person could be negatively affected by it or uses it for evil means. This type of situation is best left not knowing. I believe if this were to happen, the individual must learn to cope with it, unlike Margot in All in a summers day who became anti-social because she knew the sun and hated the rain. Ultimately, it boils down to the individual's character that gives the result

Subject LA

Nope I have not been under the circumstance of being someone that is left out in the group but i have seen people that were. Especially now, a crucial time to pick your group members for project competition, I believe there is one or two people that noone has chose to be in his group. You might think it is a pity, but sometimes the problem does not lie with the people but yourself. Some people are just anti-social and ignores people that want to be friends with them. I believe this snobbish behaviour is bred in that person because he feels superior to others. However I cannot deny that group members that are forced to allow him to join the group tend to ridicule him and not share information with him because they believe he is just a freeloader. My solution to them is that instead to isolating him, make him hold an important position so he will not be able to slack. In this way, he will be able to see how important group members are and the importance of friends.
